All about independent education in the UK
The Association for Families of Independent Schools™ is assisting with the creation of this extensive online resource, the National Library of Independent Education.
In time we envisage it will become a wholly independent organisation, but for now it's being sponsored by AFIS™ and housed within our website.
How does the Library work?
Any individual, school, public body or commercial organisation is invited to send submissions they would like published by the Library
If you are an AFIS™ school or CLUB member, you can include an image, background text (e.g. a biography or description of your school, maximum 400 words) and a weblink, free of charge.
The Library team will curate and catalogue documents, images, audio and video files to make them easy to access by anyone seeking information from experts on a wide range of topics about independent education.
The library will also include opinion pieces from both advocates and critics of the UK private schooling system.

We are recruiting Sector Champions for the Library
If you have particular expertise in an area of independent education, e.g. boarding, prep, sports, SEND, nursery, junior, senior or 6th form, please consider becoming one of our topic-specific librarians.
These roles involve curating, reviewing and commenting on articles submitted for publication. Initially, these are voluntary roles with a time commitment of approximately two hours per week. Once the library is established and wholly independent, the potential exists for Sector Champions to be remunerated.
