Sadly, many parents have also been forced to take their children out of the schools and fund new schools for them, due to the impact of VAT on school fees and rising costs.
Can you help us to raise awareness of the dreadful impact on children and families?
AFIS is committed to championing independent schooling and one way we are doing this is by sharing the stories of the Families who are being affected by policies and the divisive debate about "Private schools".
It would be hugely beneficial to the future of the sector, and to all of us who support parental choice and independent schooling, if we can provide some of those stories.
This month, and ongoing we will be writing about the experiences of parents and pupils who found themselves, quite suddenly, having to find a new school for their children as a result of the impact of government policies on private schools [VAT, business rates, employer national insurance].
The change of schools could be because:
- The school closed meaning all pupils had to relocate
- The fees were raised, making it unaffordable for the parent(s).
We appreciate that this may not apply to your family, but perhaps you know parents who were put in this position, and can put them in touch with us?
Stories like this can attract national media coverage, which of course can make a huge difference in raising awareness on such an important matter.
AFIS understands the likelihood of parents being reluctant to go public, particularly if it involves naming and featuring their children. Stories can be anonymous and your privacy can be 100% guaranteed. .
If you or anyone you know can help, please email us at hello@afis.org.uk
Thank you.
